Where is lake victoria?

This may sound unbelievable to some but yes,i ask again where is lake victoria? The lake is so large you can see it from space, that is how large it is. Now go to Kisumu and try finding the lake...i mean try getting to the shores of the lake. Let me walk you through this....the few places one can actually reach the shores are:

  • former hippo point, next to dunga water intake station
  • kisumu yatch club
  • impala park
  • sunset hotel
  • state lodge
  • kenya railways yard and station
  • railways dockyard
  • hindu crematorium
  • muslim cemetery
  • nyanza golf club
  • kisumu beach resort

My point is,all the establishments mentioned above together hoard miles of beachfront property locking out members of the public who know the world's second largest lake is at their doorstep. All over the world towns and cities that are on the shores of a large waterbody have their most developed and beautiful faces and facilities at the shores of the water body....not so for Kisumu...why? Let us lobby our government and leaders to open up the lake for recreation and business....let us enjoy the lake as it is part and parcel of Kisumu....the business and recreational potential of the lake are almost boundless yet we have not even began exploiting this God given resource....OPEN UP THE LAKE VICTORIA YE PEOPLE OF KISUMU!

Kisumu Amateur Athletics Club

Do you remember when the national team for any sport under the Olympic movement had 50% or more of it's team from kisumu or had lived in kisumu for a few years? We dominated all sports except long distance running. Kisumu was a sporting giant, tell me what went wrong! That is why i propose the formation of the Kisumu Amateur Athletics Club as a venture to nature and uplift the sporting standards of Kisumu back to the top, where we belong...

Welcome one and all....

This is in response to the loud silence i hear from my hometown Kisumu. Let one and all come together and let us debate on what went wrong, what is going wrong and what will go wrong as long as we stand aside and watch. Let us take charge and claim our city for ourselves.Let us blame ourselves for electing functionally semi-illiterate politicians and then not holding them accountable. Let us arise and lift our banner high and say change has come...do away with the old and start on a clean plate.
